Canadian Deaf Swim Team Roster for 5th World Deaf Swimming Championships
We congratulate the following six swimmers that will be competing at the 2019 World Deaf Swimming Championships, August 25-31st, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Canada is one of 29 countries competing.

The World Deaf Swimming Championships occur every 4 years and typically alternate with the Deaflympics. In order to compete as a deaf athlete at any of the sanctioned international competitions, a swimmer must have hearing loss greater than 55 decibels.
Joshua and Damiano have competed at two Deaflympics, the 2013 Deaflympics in Bulgaria and the 2017 Deaflympics in Samsun, Turkey as well as the 2015 World Deaf Swimming Championships in San Antonio, Texas. Brandon has competed at the last world championships in Texas and the 2017 Deaflympics. This will be Jacob, Vedavati and Selena’s first world championships but they all competed in the 2017 Deaflympics in Turkey.
The swimmers will be travelling from Toronto to Brazil on August 22nd with training until August 25th and then competition Aug 26 – 31st. The closing ceremony will be on August 31st.
